The Doberman Pinscher is compactly built, muscular and powerful animal, he has great endurance and speed. He is elegant in appearance, of proud carriage, reflecting great nobility and temperament. He is universally known as a police dog for his devotion to duty on the German Front during World War I. The Dobie is constantly alert and is a great companion or guard dog. He makes an admirable obedience and show dog or a wonderful family pet.
This is a versatile breed, excelling at many disciplines: conformation events, search & rescue, police K-9, Schutzhund, Obedience, Drug Detection, Personal Protection, Tracking, Therapy Work, Seeing Eye Dogs, etc. When you have a well trained Doberman, you have a dog that is a benefit to you personally as well as to society. | The photograph above shows a red Doberman licking an exhausted fireman. He had just saved her from a fire in her house, rescuing her and her babies by carrying them out of the house into the front yard.The firefighter was afraid of her at first, because he had never been around a Doberman before. When he finally got done putting the fire out, he sat down to catch his breath and rest.
A photographer from the Charlotte, North Carolina newspaper, "The Observer," noticed this red Doberman in the distance looking at the fireman. He saw her walking straight toward the fireman and wondered what she was going to do. As he raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had saved her life and the lives of her babies, and kissed him, just as the photographer snapped this photograph. |
